We’re not just talking about Wally-docking and casino camping. There are many free and low cost camping opportunities in places far away from a paved parking lot.
As part of our “Ways to Save” week I’ve collected a list of links that will help you find parking and camping opportunities all across the country. I’m sure I’ve left out many good resources, so if you know of one that I haven’t listed please share it with us all in the comments area at the bottom.
Casino Camping Location Report - Southern Indiana
November 1, 2008 by Mac McClellan · Leave a Comment
If you’ve been following my posts we’ve taken a quick trip through the central Midwest, stopping at casinos in Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana. We’re traveling with a schedule to keep, so we had to skip some RV friendly places, but we’ll catch those next time. Our last stop in Indiana was on the Ohio River at the Horseshoe Casino in Elizabeth. Read more

Casino Camping Location Report - Dubuque, Iowa

Dubuque is an exceptional small city and an interesting place to stop for a night or to stay for several days. We arrived on a Thursday, and spent the first night at the Wal-Mart Supercenter because we needed to stock up on some groceries. On Friday I visited the Diamond Jo casino in the Port of Dubuque district, and on Saturday we had a great time at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium (photo is one of the historic riverboats on display outside the museum). Airstream RV Blog #84 - The $1,128,000,000 Campground from Sean Michael on TheLongLongHoneymoon.com.
How valuable was this camping experience? We’ve been told that a half acre of land on the Las Vegas Strip recently sold for $47 million. And yet, here’s a massive swath of such land dedicated to a full hookup RV campground. So using these numbers as reference, I guess our little campsite is worth at least $5,000,000 — and the campground itself is worth around $1,128,000,000. Read more
Casino Camping Update — Reno Nevada RV Parking Ban
September 19, 2008 by Mac McClellan · 7 Comments
A quick post today to bring this to everyone’s attention. Reno Nevada has started enforcing the overnight parking restriction that has been a local ordinance since 1996. Over the years there has been sporadic enforcement; although, several casinos made accomodations for RV travelers, especially those of us who are serious players. It seems even this has come to an end.

Gambling for the Casino Camper – Video Poker Part 2
August 22, 2008 by Mac McClellan · 2 Comments
One of my goals in posting here is to help you to get the most out of your recreational gambling budget. It was May 24th the last time I talked about gambling - and more specifically Video Poker. In that post, I gave you a very brief overview of the game along with a few references and resources (both online and in print) to further your study. Now, I’m coming back to provide a more complete coverage of the subject, but rather than “reinvent the wheel” I’m going to give you a link to an excellent post on this topic by nationally known gambling writer Linda Boyd.
